Dec. 21, 2016 -- Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture started to issue 77,821 bilingual social security cards to residents on Dec.19,2016.

The Tibetan-Chinese social security cards have the dual functions of social security card and financial bank card. 300,000 more will be issued later.

Han Yongsheng, deputy governor of Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, said the new cards will give insurers better services and help social security departments improve account management, policy advice and check service.

The release of the new cards signals that Yushu has entered a new stage in the informatization of its social security system.
