Space technologies introduced for ecological monitoring in Sanjiangyuan

Nov. 16, 2016 -- Cutting-edge space technologies including Satellite Remote Sensing, BeiDou Navigation Satellite System and Satellite Communication will be introduced to protect the environmental ecology in Sanjiangyuan National Park in Qinghai Province, announced local authorities.
 
The Park was established on Apr.13, 2016 to curb the ecological degradation. Sanjiangyuan region plays a critical role in maintaining ecological integrity in Asia. 
 
"In the past 10 years, a comprehensive monitoring system has been built in Sanjiangyuan region through setting up CCTV cameras and electronic data gathering equipment. The number of monitoring stations has increased from 100 to 1,000," said Li Xiaonan, director of the Administration of Sanjiangyuan National Park.
 
"In the next 4 years, we will use the remote sensing technology and increase the number of monitoring stations to 2,000. The accuracy of monitoring will be greatly improved," said Li.
