Life gets much better in China’s highest township

Dec.17,2020 -- At an altitude of 5,373 meters, Pumaqangtang ,in Tibet Autonomous Region is China’s  highest township. Oxygen levels are just about 40% of that at sea level, making it hard to breathe.
 
In recent years, under the support of the local government, local herdsmen’s productive and living conditions have substantially improved. The township now has been equipped with a kindergarten, a clinic and an oxygen-providing chamber. The enrollment rate of children has reached 100%. The township has put products like milk dreg and butter on sale to increase people’s income.
 
The annual per capita income of the township was 15,323 yuan in 2019, and is expected to reach 17,000 yuan this year.
