Aug.19,2020 -- The nursing home in Dingqing County, Changdu City, Tibet Autonomous Region, now provides more than 180 elderly people with accommodation and health care. Put into use in 2015, it covers an area of 11,700 square meters with an investment of over 58 million yuan.
Zhuo Qiong, one of the elderly residents in the nursing home, said:“After moving here, I feel that I have something to rely on.” The caretakers not only provide new Tibetan clothes and shoes according to changes of weather but also take care of the daily lives of disabled elderly people.
The nursing home accommodates a health care room, a gym and entertainment facilities like pool tables. The Tibetan-style bedrooms are equipped with television, wardrobe and private bathroom.
78-year-old Zha Pei said that other villagers helped look after him before moving here and he always felt beholden to them. Now the caretakers at the nursing home take care of him and they are just like families to him. He’s satisfied with the current peaceful life.
Gesang Deqing, superintendent of the nursing home, said that every elderly person can get a yearly subsidy of about 12,000 yuan besides health care insurance and assistance from civil administration departments. Local entrepreneurs and social organizations often donate money and needed materials to the nursing home.
