July 16,2020 -- The international webinar on Tibetan cultural inheritance and religious belief was held on July 15th. Organized by China Tibetology Research Center, China Association for Preservation and Development of Tibetan Culture and China Society for Human Rights Studies, the teleconference was also an online side event of the 44th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. Around 30 experts and scholars from China, Nepal, Austria, Italy and France joined the virtual event.
Experts including Luobu Zhaxi, Deputy Director of the Institute of Tibetan Medical and Pharmacology Studies, and Nanjia Cairang, Associate Senior Editor of China Tibetology Publishing House, made keynote speeches on China’s religious policies, related theoretical research and practices and future developments.
Foreign attendees such as Tamla Ukyab, Former Nepalese Consul General in Lhasa and Birgit Kellner, Director of the Institute for the Cultural and Intellectual History of Asia, Austrian Academy of Sciences, spoke about how to better inherit Tibetan cultural heritages and protect religious belief. Attendees recognized the significance of the conference and appreciated China’s efforts and achievements in cultural and religious protection. They also exchanged views on the economic and social development in Tibet and reached many consensuses.
