May 7,2020 -- On the afternoon of April 30th, a press briefing was held in Dingri County, Shigatse, Tibet, inaugurating the third mission to remeasure the height of Mount Qomolangma, the world’s highest mountain.

The team has been doing some mountaineering and surveying skills training to make better preparations for the upcoming mission.

Chinese surveyors ascended to the peak of Mount Qomolangma on May 27th, 1975 and released the mountain’s height, which was 8,848.13 meters. China initiated the second measurement of the height of Mount Qomolangma on May 22nd, 2005. Through triangulation, leveling, GPS satellite measurement and radar detector to measure the thickness of ice and snow layers, scientists released the height of Mount Qomolangma, which was 8,844.43 meters.
