Work and production resumes gradually in Lhasa

March 17,2020 -- In a supermarket near the Potala Palace, there are sufficient supplies of over 40 kinds of vegetables and fruits with moderate prices. “With more and more people out of quarantine, the store is embracing more customers,” said the manager.

Gongga International Airport is the largest airport in Tibet. In order to ensure the airport’s expansion projects resume as scheduled on March 16th, the construction company has already delivered needed materials beforehand and the construction crew have returned with the support of Tibet’s Civil Aviation Administration.

Since Feb.26, Tibet Airlines and Air China have delivered about 1,300 people who return Tibet to work. 90% of Tibet’s civil flights have resumed so far with 7,100 passengers per day on average.
 
According to statistics from China Railway Qinghai-Tibet Group, the number of tourists per day has increased to 3,000 on average at the Lhasa Railway Station. The trains Z6801, Z6802, Z917, Z918 from Lhasa to Xining and the trains Z8803, Z8804 from Lhasa to Shigatse resumed operation. 
 
On March 15th, some key engineering projects of Lhasa have also resumed construction.
