Feb.12, 2020 -- As the Tibetan New Year is approaching, Tibet’s government encourages people to shop online for new year necessities in order to avoid mass gathering, according to the third press conference on the novel coronavirus control held by the Information Office of Tibet on Feb.10th. Ciren Zhuoga, head of the Administration for Market Regulation in Lhasa, said that the authorities will organize express companies like Chengtou Company and Jingtu Company to ensure timely delivery. Wu Yasong, deputy director of the Epidemic Control Leading Group in Lhasa, said that Lhasa has mobilized farming households to restore the cultivation of fast-growing vegetables. They have opened fast tracks for vehicles ferrying daily necessities and encouraged agricultural product wholesale enterprises to increase procurement. Jingtu Company has 63 vegetable outlets and 94 vehicles for vegetable delivery to communities and rural areas. “Daily necessities are basically abundant so far and prices are stable,” said Wu. Wu said that the first confirmed patient of novel coronavirus in Tibet is being treated in the Third People’s Hospital of the region. Close contacts have been quarantined.
