Dec.25,2019 -- A delegation of Tibetan legislators, led by Luo Bu Dun Zhu, executive vice chairman of Tibet autonomous region, met with Bettner Legalla, deputy speaker of the Latvian parliament on Dec. 16th in Riga, capital of Latvia.
Luo Bu Dun Zhu said this year marks the 60th anniversary of the democratic reform in Tibet. Under the leadership the Communist Party of China, Tibet has transformed itself from poverty and isolation to prosperity and opening-up. Today’s Tibet is embracing social harmony and stability, rapid economic development, full coverage of basic public services, well-preserved ecology and fully-respected freedom of religious belief. The sense of happiness, gains and security of the Tibetan people has been greatly enhanced. He invited Latvian friends to visit Tibet in the future to get a full and objective picture of the region.
Bettner Legalla said that Latvia will as always support the One-China policy. He hopes to strengthen exchanges between the two countries’ legislatures, expand cooperation under the frameworks of the Belt and Road Initiative and the “17 plus 1 Cooperation” and take Latvia-China relations to a higher level.
The delegation also met with chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Latvian parliament and chairman of the parliament’s group on promoting cooperation with China as well as scholars from the University of Latvia and representatives of overseas Chinese in Latvia.
