Oct.22,2019-- The third meeting of the Second Tibetan Medicine Standards Coordination Committee was held Friday in Lhasa. Drug authorities of Tibet Autonomous Region and provinces of Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan and Yunnan, and Tibetan medicine experts shared views on strengthening drug supervision and improving the high quality development of ethnic medicines.

Tibetan medicine, with a long history of 3,800 years, has a sound and complete inheritance and theoretical system. It has played an important role in the lives of Tibetan people throughout history.

“We discussed the Tibetan Drug Standards (1995)at the meeting. We hope to improve as soon as possible the quality standards of Tibetan drugs in the Tibetan-inhabited areas across the country through project cooperation and technical guidance,” said Zheng Jian, director of the Division of Ethnic Drug Control of China’s National Institute for Food and Drug Control.

The meeting also made a summary of the committee’s work in the past several years and discussed future plans.
