June 20, 2019 -- A Tibetan delegation of China's National People's Congress (NPC) members visited Myanmar from June 16th to 19th.

The delegation, headed by Cheng Siqu, chairman of the standing committee of Shigatse municipal people’s congress and member of the regional people’s congress of Tibet Autonomous Region, met with government officials in Rangoon and Naypyidaw.

Cheng gave an introduction of the historical changes and achievements made in Tibet’s economic and social development since the Democratic Reform of Tibet in 1959.

He said that China appreciates Myanmar’s consistent support for the “one-China” policy.

Vice-Chairman of Myanmar Union Parliament said that the two countries should strengthen people-to-people exchanges and boost bilateral cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

During the visit, the delegation held talks with overseas Chinese and people from the religious, media and academic circles.
