|Dec. 12, 2018 -- The Tibetan Traditional Medicine College (TTMC), which was approved to grant doctorates in May and change its name recently to Tibetan Traditional Medicine University, will develop itself into a world-class university dedicated to traditional Tibetan medicine, said Nyima Tsering, President of the TTMC.
Since it was founded 29 years ago, the university has developed world-leading characteristic disciplines featuring traditional Tibetan medicine and Tibetan pharmacy.
The university helps the WTO to formulate international training standards for traditional Tibetan medicine, enjoying a high reputation both home and abroad.
Nyima said that the successful inscription of “Tibetan medicinal bathing” onto the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO has expanded the international influence of traditional Tibetan medicine.
The university aims to develop into a flagship base for talents training, cultural inheritance, research and innovation in traditional Tibetan medicine.
The university will enroll international students after a new campus is put into use in 2021, Nyima added.
