Date:07-07-2016 Source: Author:Leung In Sing (Canada)

The establishment of the Tibet Autonomous Region brand

Xi Jinping stated, "Tibet is an important national security barrier, important ecological security barrier, important strategic resource reserve base, important highland agricultural base, important Chinese culture preservation base, important world tourist destination." 1 Tibet is the gateway to western China, intersecting India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Bhutan. Strategically situated at the gateway between China and Southern

In 1994, I started an organization called "Culture Regeneration Research Society" in Canada, then in Hong Kong and USA, promoting overseas Chinese to participate in the restructuring of the culture of compassion and subsidizing underprivileged students in China during a time when China‘s development was most difficult. Since I was appointed to be one of the board of directors in the China Association for Preservation and Development of Tibetan Culture, I studied further about Tibet on several occasions via funding the underprivileged students there and presenting Chinese and English articles about the preservation of Tibetan culture and current articles overseas. I observed that the uniqueness of Tibet could become its own brands such as ecological Tibet or rainbow Tibet.

Ecological Tibet brand

Northwest to southeast, with glaciers such as Luo Dan, Gobi and others; climate varies from boreal, temperate to subtropical and tropical regions, while the region also contains a wide variety of plants and rare wildlife. There are different landscapes that are good for tourism. On the other hand, because of the barren landscape, land resources are limited, generally people in rural areas are quite poor. With some of the nomadic tribes, they reside by water and soil, their descendants may not get formal education so that poverty often continues from generation to generation.

Taking full advantage of the characteristics of Tibet, there are two ways for the work of philanthropic work, one is poverty alleviation through tourism development, second is to take targeted measures in poverty alleviation. If barren landscapes could be turned into fertile greens and wastelands be transformed, then the resources could be bred and tourism could be developed to help turn around poverty issues. At the same time, the nomadic tribes would have places to settle down when the land becomes fertile. The green brand development not only preserve good lands for targeted philanthropy but also strategically develop tourism and therefore help the poor.
