Abstract :This paper makes a brief summary of poverty alleviation in Tibet, based on investigations in four agricultural rural communities in the middle Tibet, mainly focusing on what have been done in poverty alleviation in recent years in Tibet and its effects. The main findings of this research are: poverty alleviation in Tibet has been through early poverty subsidizing, mid-term all-round poverty reduction and current targeted poverty alleviation. Poverty incidence has greatly decreased with absolute poverty being historically eradicated. Intergenerational transmission of poverty has largely reduced. Most of the previous poor households are having relatively abundant and decent life.
