XINING, May 14, 2021 -- Tsering Dorje is a truck driver from Caoge Village, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of northwest China's Qinghai Province.

His life has been changed since an expressway was put into use in August 2017.

The 634.8-km expressway section connects Yushu City with Gonghe County in Qinghai.

With an average altitude of over 4,000 meters, it was built on the permafrost of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the world's highest plateau.

It has not only shortened the travel time between the provincial capital Xining and Yushu from 12 to just eight hours but also changed local people's lives.

"In 2019, I bought a truck for the logistics business from Xining to Jiegu, earning about 100,000 to 130,000 yuan (15,480 to 20,124 U.S. dollars) annually. The road conditions are good, transportation is very convenient, so my business is doing well. Other industries have developed a lot too. All because of the expressway," said Tsering.
