Clay Sculptures tell Epic of Gesar

Nov. 15, 2016 -- A group of clay sculptures telling the Epic of Gesar were on exhibition on Nov.13 in Guoluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province.  
 
As the longest heroic epic, the Epic of Gesar is well-known as “Eastern Homer’s Epic”. It has been listed as a World Intangible Cultural Heritage item by the UNESCO. 
 
A total of 1.09 million yuan has been invested to the clay sculptures group which comprises of 4000 figurines and objects. 
 
The clay sculptures group is 56 meters long and 2 meters wide. It took two years to complete.
 
The clay sculptures demonstrate how the King Gesar conquered the devils and sought happiness and peace for the locals.
