Dec.9, 2016 -- A photo exhibition on the development achievements of China’s Tibet Autonomous Region and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region was held in Bern, Switzerland on December 5.
"Located in the west of China, Tibet and Xinjiang both embrace diverse cultures and colorful civilizations. Xinjiang occupies an important location in the Eurasian Continent, where different cultures collide and integrate. The famous Silk Road passes through Xinjiang. Tibet, with an average elevation of 4000 meters, is considered as the ‘Third Pole’ and ‘Roof of the world’. A railway network built since the 1950s has boosted Tibet’s economy and its exchanges with the outside world,” said Geng Wenbing, Chinese ambassador to Switzerland, at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
"Since the reform and opening up policy was introduced, tremendous changes have taken place. The exhibition has shown the economic and social changes in Tibet and Xinjiang,” said Geng.
Geng encouraged local people to visit Tibet and Xinjiang.
