Sept.9, 2019 -- Recently, Xigaze City of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region has successfully held its First 1st Farmers & Herdsmen's Sports Meeting, lasting three days. 12 individual events, such as archery, stone holding (male) and highland barley holding (female), and 4 collective events, such as tug-of-war, football and basketball have been set, with nearly 600 players participating in the games. The setting of competition events with performances and dances on the opening ceremony has all reflected the perfect combination of tradition and modernity.
"Live a well-off life and be healthy". In recent years, with the progress of society, the development of economy and the continuous improvement of people's living standard, the masses of farmers and herdsmen in Xigaze City have an increasingly strong demand for fitness. "I am very excited to participate in this sports meeting. This is a grand mass festival with full rural flavor," says Tsering Ngordrup, from Xaitongmoin County, who has attended the football game this time. He thinks the sports meeting is very down-to-earth and hopes relevant departments to carry out more similar activities in the future.
