Jan. 31, 2019 -- The annual Spring Festival travel rush, also known as "Chunyun" in Chinese, started on January 21, 2019 this year. In order to provide better service to passengers during the 40-day-period, the Tibet Autonomous Regional Administration of CAAC ("TAR Administration" for short) plans to schedule 213 more flights to meet an estimated passenger volume of 585,000.

To deal with the air traffic pressure, TAR Administration has coordinated with all airlines served in Tibet to replace small passenger aircrafts with large ones, so as to cope with the increased passenger flow entering and leaving Tibet. 213 flights with 52,802 seats will be added for popular routes within Tibet.

To ensure the passengers a safe journey, the TAR Administration has made emergency plan as well as a close monitoring in response to the extreme weather.

During the Spring Festival travel rush, Lhasa Gonggar Airport will organize 143 volunteers to provide guidance, consultation, order maintenance, key assistance and other services to passengers. In addition, it will set up an extra service counter at the terminal building to provide quick-service for passengers truly in need.
