Nov. 13, 2017 -- Suo County of Tibet's Nagqu Prefecture is a half farming and half nomadism county. It has a large population density in urban villages. Most of the residences are made of earth and wood. Therefore, the anti-quake capacity is poor and there are potential fire hazards. Besides, the supporting infrastructure is weak.
Since May 2017, the transformation project has been carried out in urban villages of Suo County. At present, the first-stage project has been basically completed. Local farmers and herdsmen have moved into new houses. The whole project is expected to be completed in July, 2018. Then a new community with multiple functions, well-equipped facilities, and beautiful environment will be established.
