July 11,2017--In Daman village of Tibet’s Gyirong County on China-Nepal border has circulated a song expressing appreciation of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Villagers here are allegedly the descendants of Gurkha invaders in the Qing Dynasty. In 2003, they were granted Chinese nationalities. In 2004, 1.47 million yuan was provided for them to build new houses covering a total area of 3, 846 square meters. And since 2005, a hundred million yuan has been invested in building local infrastructure, improving the villagers’ income and giving their children fair access to education.
“We’re living a better life now. It’s pretty good,” said Migmar, who runs a grocery store in the village, earning her over 20,000 yuan per year.
Under the support of the CPC, the villagers see a bright future for their livelihood.
