Oct. 20, 2016 -- Potala Palace, a must-see spot for tourists, will start lowering its ticket price during the off-peak season, which usually lasts from November to March.

Known for its religious, cultural and historical significance, the Potala Palace is a Tibet's architectural icon in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. At the moment, Potala Palace witnesses about 2,000 visitors a day. Because of abundant tickets, tourists need not stand in line for the usually hard-to-get ticket of the World Cultural Heritage listed site, according to the administration.

Sources with the administration said that during the tourism peak season (May-October), the number of visitors to Potala Palace is limited so as to control heavy flow. As such, entrance tickets to Potala Palace are hard to get. However, at the point, with the coming of low season starting from November, visitors could get admission tickets in only two or three minutes instead of standing in line for long hours.

The Potala Palace will reduce its current 200 yuan (29.6 U.S. dollars) admission price to 100 yuan (14.8 U.S. dollars) from Nov. 1. On the same day, the Potala Palacec will open at 9 am.
