In 2006, it was included in the country's first Intangible Cultural Heritage List. And in 2009, Gesar epic tradition was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
As the hometown of King Gesar, Guide is featured with Gesar-related legends, art and temples, providing a communication platform for lovers and researchers of Gesar and Tibetan culture. Especially, the world’s most influential translation of Gesar was produced in this county.
The base is expected to promote the protection and inheritance of Gesar culture as well as other local intangible culture heritages.
