|Jan. 23, 2018 -- A female student, 15, was injured and a male student, 16, was taken into custody in a shooting at a high school in northeastern Texas, the United States, local police said Monday.
The shooting took place at Italy High School in the Ellis County, about 240 km northwest of downtown Houston.
The Ellis County Sheriff's Office earlier posted message on its Facebook page, saying that "shooter is in custody," and that students were being moved as they continued the investigation.
The injured girl, whose name was not released, was taken to hospital in Dallas, about 70 km north of Italy town. Her condition is not known. It was unclear whether the shooter and the victim knew each other.
The town of Italy has a population of about 2,000 and only one high school. The local police in Ellis County will lead the investigation of the shooting.
