KATHMANDU, Dec.11,2017-- A team of doctors from China's Sichuan Province arrived in Nepal on Sunday to launch a week-long free health camp for locals.

During the ceremony here, the team said the health camp will begin from Monday from a village in Dhulikhel, some 30 km away from the capital Kathmandu.

The 20-member delegation, led by He Guangxian, deputy inspector of Sichuan provincial foreign affairs office, comprises 17 doctors. They will provide specialized medical services on orthopedics, diabetes, hypertension and respiratory diseases, among others.

"We are dedicated to supporting the health of Nepali people and their happiness through our medical camps. We will also hold interaction with local health workers and share our skills and experiences," a member from the medical team said at the ceremony.

This is not the first time that the Sichuan medical team provided services in the Himalayan nation. Earlier, the team had offered free medical services to the Nepalese right after the devastating earthquake of 2015 which killed nearly 9,000 people and left tens of thousands injured.

Deputy Chief of Mission at Chinese Embassy in Nepal Yang Shichao expressed hope that the free health camp will be highly beneficial to the people who have less access to medical treatment.

"The medical team is here to relieve sufferings and pains of people. The team will not just help the patients but will also deliver the message of China's aid," Yang said.

The health camp will be organized in five places covering four districts including Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kavrepalanchowk. It has been supported by Nepali organization Arniko Society.

Addressing the event, Mayor of Dhulikhel Ashok Byanju Shrestha said such health camps are important for rural villages and should be conducted regularly.

"I appreciate the assistance of Sichuan Province to improve health of the Nepali people. I also look forward to the affiliation between hospitals of Sichuan and Nepal," Shrestha said.session of the United Nations Environmental Assembly (UNEA) ended in Nairobi on Wednesday with leaders pledging to end pollution for a clean environment.
