BEIJING, Feb.10,2021 -- China has seen its social order and public security continue improving, with a sharp drop in the occurrence of severe violent crimes and heavy penalties, said the country's top procuratorate.
However, there are still a small number of serious violent crimes that pose threats to people's safety, said Yuan Ming, a senior prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, adding that prosecuting agencies would strictly clamp down on these crimes as required by law.
Chinese prosecutors adhere to the highest standard for evidence when handling death sentence cases to guard against a miscarriage of justice, Yuan said.
Yuan called on prosecutors to consider public concern while handling cases involving heavy penalties to manifest consciousness in justice administration.
