BEIJING, Aug.17,2020 -- Chinese authorities have urged schools to step up efforts on epidemic prevention and control as the new semester will start in September.

Local Party committees and governments, schools, families and students should all take due responsibilities in fighting the epidemic, according to a notice issued by the National Health Commission and the Ministry of Education.

Schools should also enhance communication and coordination with disease control authorities, nearby medical institutions and community health service centers, read the notice.

It also asked schools to store disinfectants, facial masks and gloves, disinfect classrooms, canteens, dormitories and libraries, and offer training to staff and students on epidemic control.

Large-scale indoor events should be avoided as much as possible, and students should avoid eating at the same time, said the notice.
