May 21, 2018-- The first Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Forum on Women sponsored by the All-China Women's Federation was held in Beijing from May 16 to May 17. The forum was aimed at harnessing the power of women for common development, boosting exchanges and promote gender equality.

“As a Chinese proverb says, women hold up half the sky. We appreciate China’s efforts to improve women’s social status,” said Zamira Ackbagseva, president of Women's Congress, Kyrghyzstan.

“Great progress has been made in the protection for women’s rights in recent 10 years, but the chance for women to hold leading positions and start up businesses is still very slim. If they cannot obtain the rights and opportunities to show their talent, the goal of sustainable development will be hard to achieve,” said Hijran Hussenova, president of the National Committee on Family, Women and Children of Azerbaijan.
