Jan. 23, 2018 -- According to the report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China aims to lift all the rural poverty stricken population out of poverty by 2020. By the end of 2016, there are still over 43 million rural people living in poverty.

Most of the poverty stricken areas have harsh natural conditions and inadequate economic infrastructure. The lack of job skills is the biggest obstacle for them to shake off poverty. Popularizing high school education is important in the long term.

With regard to poverty alleviation through popularizing high school education, we should exempt them from high school education fees and offer subsidies. We should tap the advantages of different students and carry out targeted assistance. We should attach high importance to vocational education. People from poor farmers can be included into the free vocational training plan.
