China and African Union Hold the 2nd Human Rights Consultation

November 2, 2017 -- On October 31, 2017, China and the African Union (AU) held the 2nd human rights consultation in Beijing. Special Representative for Human Rights Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Liu Hua and Director of the Department of Political Affairs Khabele Matlosa of the AU Commission co-chaired the consultation. Officials from the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China, State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development, All-China Women's Federation and China Disabled Persons' Federation attended the consultation.

During the consultation, both sides exchanged views on the new progress made in the field of human rights in China and the AU, international human rights situation, multilateral cooperation in human rights, human rights technical cooperation and other topics. The two sides agreed that this consultation achieved fruitful outcomes, which further enhanced coordination and cooperation between both sides in the field of human rights.

On the same day, the AU delegation also visited Dongsi Olympic Community Sports Culture Center and other places.
