Tibetan NPC delegation concludes visit to Canada

OTTAWA, Nov. 30, 2017 -- A National People's Congress (NPC) delegation of legislators from China's Tibet Autonomous Region on Wednesday wrapped up a four-day visit to Canada.

The delegation, led by Danzeng Langjie, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Region, visited Montreal and Ottawa, where they met Canadian parliament members, government officials, university professors, researchers and local media.

During the visit, the delegation had talks with the Canadian side on topics covering the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as Tibet's economic development, religious and cultural protection, local people's lives and China's preferential policies for Tibet's development.

At a press conference held in Ottawa Wednesday afternoon, the delegation answered media questions about Tibet's poverty alleviation efforts, the protection and development of traditional cultures, as well as ecological protection.

The delegation departed for Argentina Wednesday evening for a visit.
