May 13, 2016 -- China has refused entry of Michael Brand, a German legislator whose engagement in "Tibet Independence" activities and remarks attacking China's human rights conditions and ethnic policies make him not welcome to China.

Michael Brand, chairman of the Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid of the German Bundestag, planned to head a parliamentary delegation to China in late May.

Brand told German newspaper Bild that the Chinese Embassy in Germany lodged a protest with him a few weeks ago.

China has been positive in human rights talks with Germany. Despite of the denial of Brand's entry, Germany's Human Rights Committee is still welcome.

Brand has called on German Foreign Ministry to issue a "clear response", according to Der Spiegel, Germany's leading news magazine on May 11.
