Yang Dekang, the vice section chief of TAR Academy of Forest Production introduced that 4,000 plants including Hebei poplars, Cathay poplars and Gyantse sea-buckthorns will all be delivered to Namlin County of Shigatse City, mainly used for afforestation and land greening along rivers. “These plants are all selected by professional workers; the rate of survival can reach 90%, which is very high on high land.” He said.

 

TAR Academy of Forestry is predicted to produce 400 thousand saplings, which will be delivered to all places of the region to afforestation and science popularization and application. Presently, the seedling stage is hopefully to be ended by April. Furthermore, in order to further meet the afforestation need of the region, 13 new varieties of trees are planned to be brought in, include Xinjiang aspen, abele, populus diversifolia, mulberry and sorbaria sorbifolia.
