A plane heading to Lhasa, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, ran off the runway and caught fire while taking off at 8:09 a.m. on Thursday morning at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport in Sichuan Province.
The flight TV9833 was operated by Tibet Airlines.
All 113 passengers and 9 crew members were evacuated, and more than 40 passengers with minor injuries have been sent to hospital.
The Chongqing branch of Tibet Airlines said an investigation is underway.
At present, flight takeoffs and landings at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport have resumed as normal.
