update:March 05,2021
March 5,2021 -- 52-year-old Ragya lives in Renang Village of Baqen County, Nagqu City, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. By the end of 2015, for the lack of laborers, his family was registered as poverty-stricken. In 2016, thanks to the targeted poverty alleviation policy, Ragya and his wife got subsidies for working in places with severe natural conditions. In December of 2018, Ragya joined a local cooperative and received an annual dividend of over 6,000 yuan; next month, his family moved to a relocation site in the county. In April of 2019, Ragya began to work in a local garment factory; in September, he got rid of poverty.

"At this year's dividends distribution ceremony, each of 22 local households received about 6,000 yuan RMB," said Ragya. On December of 2018, a cooperative was set up, and Ragya was selected as the chief executive. It mainly consists of a tea house and a billiard parlor. To date, the business revenue reached 240,000 yuan.

"In the past, our family of seven people lived in a 40-square-meter adobe house. Without stable salary, we could only meet the basic needs of daily life,” Ragya recalled. He made a living by picking up cordyceps sinensis. However, with eyes problems, Ragya couldn't work long hours outside.

At the end of 2015, Ragya's family was registered as a poor household. Thanks to the national support policies for poverty alleviation, Ragya and his wife got an annual subsidy of 3,000 yuan from 2016 to 2017. Since 2018, their annual subsidy standard has risen to 3,500 yuan.

Once Ragya knew the opening of a cooperative that was invested by the local government, he applied to join in it. At the beginning, there were 22 households in the cooperative, 17 of which were poverty-stricken. Now, with concerted efforts, its business goes well and becomes an important channel for poverty alleviation and getting rich.

At the end of 2018, Ragya's family moved to a new house at the relocation site in the county. It is a two-story Tibetan house with brand-new Tibetan furniture. "Without government's policies for benefiting people, we couldn't live in such a beautiful house," Ragya said.

In the early 2019, a garment factory for poverty alleviation was established near the county's relocation site. A total of 17 people from poor households were employed. "Thanks to the national supportive policies, our life will be better and better only if we are willing to work hard," said Ragya.
