Dec.28,2020 -- Three rural Tibetan primary schools are included in the first batch of China's "100 Cozy Countryside Schoolyards Construction Campaign", which was launched earlier this month by the Ministry of Education.

The selection of cozy schoolyards is part of the ministry's effort to accelerate the creation of more comfortable rural school environments, according to a statement released in early December.

The program also aims to improve education quality in all respects at the grassroots level through various support measures, it said.

All of China's provincial education departments were required to provide recommendations for the second round of the program before Dec.30.

The three listed primary schools in Tibet are Tayul Township Primary School of Zogang county in Chamdo, Drondar Central Primary School of Nang county in the city of Nyingchi and Chodorjang Township Primary School of the Chusum county in Lhokha.

Yang Wenbin, headmaster of Tayul Township Primary School, said he was pleased to learn the news. He said he thought better management of the school was the key factor for his school to win the title.

"We try our best to improve the learning environment for our schoolkids. Teaching quality is enhanced from time to time, and our faculties and students have to follow the school regulations strictly," Yang said.

"Trying our best to serve the students is a common obligation for all the teachers at the school, not only in classes. After classes, we carry out a one-on-one system in which each teacher tutors a student with poor performance."
