Aug.28,2020 -- From January to June of this year, Lhasa City, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, received 3.9 million tourists, realizing 5.67 billion yuan RMB revenue, according to Lhasa Tourism Development Bureau. Roughly 2.18 million visitors stayed for a one-day tour, bringing a total of 731 million yuan RMB in tourism revenue.
In terms of rural tourism, the city welcomed 1.28 million visitors over past six months, generating 175 million yuan RMB revenue. With an increasing popularity of Linka culture (traveling/ taking picnic in gardens), a total of 370,000 tourists went to Linka for holidays in June.
On the first half of the year, a tourism activity mainly for local residents was held by Lhasa Tourism Development Bureau, which greatly mitigated the impact of COVID-19 on tourism businesses. Moreover, night markets on Zhouji Square opened, channeling new energy into local tourism industry. Visitor flow was limited to 5,000 every day.
Next, to advance the resumption of local tourism, the city will make great efforts to promote tourism in its promotion, development of products and activity schedule.
