Nagqu: major progress made in industrial poverty alleviation

May 29,2020 -- Nagqu City, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, has continued to advance economic and social development through the fight against poverty. Making full use of geographic advantage and rich resources, it has taken industrial development as an important way for poverty alleviation and made periodic positive achievements.
 
To date, of 431 planned industrial projects for poverty elimination, 377 have been completed. With the combination of four kinds of payments (rent, reward, salary and equity capital), 338 projects have been put into operation, bringing an income of 341 million yuan RMB and benefiting 228,800 people.
 
In addition, the city has striven to transform and upgrade animal husbandry industry and carry out poverty alleviation via consumption. It has strengthened the production and marketing docking of livestock products based on a survey related to livestock products and handcrafts produced by leading companies of poverty alleviation, cooperatives and impoverished households. There are 1,540 cooperatives bringing benefits to 322,900 farmer and herdsmen of 73,500 households. In the past year, the city welcomed two million tourists, generating 990 million yuan RMB in tourism revenue. A total of 6,448 farmers and herdsmen have engaged in rural tourism and received an income of 93.068 million yuan RMB.
