update:March 20,2020
March 20,2020 -- Presently, the construction of 430 power grid network projects including the power grid network project in deep poverty-stricken areas and Ngari-Xigaze Interconnection Project has resumed in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. 74 counties (districts) and townships will have access to stable power supply in this year. On March 14, workers are busy with the building of power lines at the construction site of the distribution project of 10 KV and below the power in Kyimxi Town of Gonggar County, Shannan City, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

The distribution project of 10 KV and below the power will build and rebuild 11 sets of transformers, a 3.4 km long, 10 KV power line and a 16.2 km long, low-voltage power transmission line. It is expected to improve the quality of power service for 5,000 villagers in Kyimxi Town.

"The lighting power is stable. Yet the local residents cannot use high-power machines for voltage instability," says Phurjung Tsering, a villager of Kyimxi Town, adding that the distribution project will solve this problem.

With a planned investment of 11.86 billion yuan RMB, the power grid network project of Tibet's areas of extreme poverty will build and rebuild 138 transformer substations of 35 KV and above the power. A 7,180 km long power line will provide 450,000 KVA of power transmission capacity. In addition, it will build and rebuild a 10,116 km long, 10 KV power line, 3,769 sets of electric transformers that provide 390,000 KVA of power transmission capacity, plus a 4,126 Km long, low-voltage power transmission line. The construction sites are located in remote areas. This project will benefit 2.51 million people of Tibet's 74 counties (districts) and 2,026 administrative villages. To date, nearly 5,000 workers have participated in this project, 73.5% of which has been completed.

Meanwhile, at an altitude of over 4,000 meters, workers of Ngari-Xigaze Interconnection Project are building a 5000-KV transformer substation in Lhatse County, Xigaze City of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

Ngari-Xigaze Interconnection Project is a crucial part of Tibet's electric power development in 13th Five-year Plan. After the operation of this project, Zhongba, Saga, Gyirong, Nyalam, Burang, Gerze and Coqen Counties will get access to main power grid network, which will ensure 380,000 people's stable electricity.

Up to now, 31% of the whole has been completed, according to Bai Xiaoqi, deputy director of engineering department of Ngari-Xigaze Interconnection Project.
