Dec.25, 2019 -- In the evening of Dec.10th, with the last piece of T beam of Sangri Station's four-lane extra-large bridge being firmly put on the abutment, the first four-lane extra-large bridge of Sichuan-Tibet Railway's Lhasa-Nyingchi section completed its erection, marking the beginning of construction on Sangri Station, the 5th pre-opening station of Lhasa-Nyingchi section.

Sangri Station, about 1.5 kilometers from the county seat, located at the south of Sangri County and the north of Yarlung Zangbo River, is at the middle of Sichuan-Tibet Railway's Lhasa-Nyingchi section. It includes a total of 14 sets of paved turnout and a base station platform (550m×8m×1.25m) linking with a side station platform (550m×8m×1.25m) by tunnels.

The current four-lane extra-large bridge under construction is the first of its kind on the railway's Lhasa-Nyingchi section. With the total length of 253.4m and 28 pieces of 32-meter simply supported T beams, the bridge will go directly to the station platforms of Sangri Station after completion.

Located at the southern foot of Gangdisê Mountains and the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River Valley, Sangri County is located in the north of Shannan City in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, covers a total area of 2,633.62 km2 and owns a resident population of more than 17,000. The construction on Sangri Station means that the basic construction traffic demand from Lhasa city to Shannan's Sangri County has been met. When the whole line is put into operation in the future, it will change the travel mode of local people, promote Shannan's agricultural and animal husbandry products and develop local tourism.
