Tibet’s foreign trade exceeds three bln yuan in Jan.-Sep.

Nov.18, 2019 -- According to the data from the Lhasa Customs, the import and export value of China's Tibet stood at 3.06 billion yuan RMB from January to September. The export value and the import value reached 2.53 billion yuan RMB and 531 million yuan RMB respectively. The trade surplus amounted to 1.99 billion yuan RMB. In September, the region's foreign trade reached 554 million yuan RMB, a year-on-year increase of 5.1%.
 
Over the past nine months, the small-scale trade in the region’s border areas, as the main form of foreign trade, reached 2.02 billion yuan RMB, up 31.8%; the barter trade between border inhabitants reached 169 million yuan RMB, a 2.1 fold year-on-year increase; Nepal is Tibet’s top trade partner and the largest export market. The foreign trade of Lhasa, capital of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, was 2.53 billion yuan RMB, accounting for 82.8% of Tibet's total foreign trade; Xigaze's foreign trade increased 2.4 fold to 312 million yuan RMB, the biggest percentage gain in Tibet.
 
In September, Nyingchi's pharmaceutical companies exported 670,000 yuan RMB worth of medical products to America, which is also a breakthrough made in Nyingchi's foreign trade. The yak hair-made hairdressing products in Qamdo were exported to South America. With the geographic support, China's Tibet will improve the communication and exchanges with Nepal, laying a solid foundation between China and Nepal.
 
Next, Lhasa Customs will continue to focus on the development of regional foreign trade. With the mode of "statistics + research", Lhasa Customs will release the foreign trade data to the public more effectively and provide better services.
