Chengguan District to fully launch garbage classification

July 19, 2019 -- To effectively implement garbage classification, Chengguan District of Lhasa City, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region has basically completed the standard data survey and statistical work of party and government organs, enterprises and institutions, kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, colleges, street communities, key scenic spots, key commercial districts and related parts. The layout plan of all kinds of garbage classification facilities and vehicles has been made and preliminarily approved by superior departments. The district will comprehensively launch garbage classification work when the arrangement and superior special fund are in place.

Early in October 2017, Chengguan District has formulated the "Implementation Plan for Pilot Areas of Garbage Classification of Chengguan District Environmental and Health Protection Bureau", and established a special leading group according to the requirements of the plan, so as to do a good job in the selection of the pilot area of garbage classification, the collection of relevant data and other work. In May of this year, on the basis of the pilot plan, the "Implementation Plan of Garbage Classification in Chengguan District" has been formulated in time, laying a solid foundation for the garbage classification work to be launched soon.

Based on extensive interviews and surveys in the early stage, in 2018, Jebumgang Community of Jebumgang Sub-district Office and Tongjian Community of Karma Kunsang Sub-district Office have been finally selected as pilot communities for household garbage classification in Chengguan District.

In October 2018, under the guidance of the Lhasa City Management Committee, 1 garbage classification points exchange supermarket, 4 garbage classification booths, 10 garbage classification points, 10 sets of 4 four-classification bins, and 1 four-classification tin bin have been established and put into use in Tongjian Community. At present, the pilot has become a representative model community of garbage classification.

"In the next step, on the basis of summarizing the previous work experience, our primary task is the publicity of garbage classification. According to different regions, different areas, different personnel and different environments, we will increase the publicity, so as to make the concept of garbage classification deeply popular. At the same time, in line with the relevant requirements of the higher authorities, we will vigorously cooperate with municipal education, urban management, housing construction, ecological environment, urban investment and other relevant departments, and strive to achieve the reduction, reclamation and harmlessness of household garbage," says Migmar Tsering, director of the Chengguan District Environmental and Health Protection Bureau.
