Apri. 3, 2019 -- Recently, Tibetan language reading room at the Tibet Library has reopened after 3 years' expansion and upgrading. About 8,000 books have been put on the shelves after this renovation. The contents of those books contain 22 major categories such as philosophy, religion and language, literature, politics, history, medicine and others. Kangyur, Tengyur and other precious Tibetan books are among them, too.

On the reopening day of the Tibetan language reading room, a reader named Tashi says, the reopening shows the continuous development of Tibet's public cultural undertakings and provides more channels for readers to learn Tibetan knowledge. He hopes that the Tibet Library will continue to meet the people's growing needs for a better reading environment.

According to a worker of the Tibet Library, at present, Tibet Library (Ancient Book Protection Center of Tibet Autonomous Region) is continuously digitizing Tibetan ancient books. Next, the Tibet Library plans to apply electronic equipment in the Tibetan language reading room, to build it into a local literature base.
