Feb. 27, 2019 -- The national amateur Go championship has concluded in Lhasa, capital city of southwest China's Tibet. This high-standard competition has won praise from many participating teams.

Wang Ning, director of the Lhasa Municipal Sports Bureau, said that the game of Go is a pillar of sports in Lhasa, and it has also become a highlight in the development of competitive sports in Tibet Autonomous Region in recent years. There are currently more than 2,000 children learning the game of Go in Lhasa, 90 percent of whom are local Lhasa Tibetans.

Lhasa has its unique culture and distinctive outdoor mountain resources.

Wang Ning said that the Lhasa Municipal Sports Bureau organized several large-scale events in 2018, all of which integrated sports, culture, and tourism. This jointly developed and formed a new economic growth point for Lhasa.

In fact, the Pure Land health industry and the cultural tourism industry are two pillar industries in Lhasa.

Wang Ning hopes the sports industry, as an environment-friendly growth industry, will produce a "one plus one is greater than two" effect.
