Dec. 27, 2018 -- This winter, more than 10 kinds of vegetables which are very popular with consumers are planted in Yamda Town Modern Facilities Agricultural Demonstration Park (Yamda Agricultural Demonstration Park) of Tohlung Dechen District, Lhasa City, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. The vegetables planted in the park are divided into five categories, including Tibet medicine, flowers, vegetables, fruits, edible fungi, totaling more than 40 varieties. The management methods are innovated, and science and technology are improved to develop suburban modern agriculture and increase farmers' income.

Watermelons, strawberries, cantaloupes, melons, green peppers, endive sprouts as well as other vegetables and fruits are planted in the park. Farmers plant crops reasonably according to the growth characteristics. The gross profit of vegetables in a greenhouse is about 7,800 yuan (about 1131 U.S. dollars) per quarter.

According to the person in charge of Yamda Agricultural Demonstration Park, the implementation of industrial assistance projects as well as science and technology assistance projects to Tibet promotes the agricultural structure adjustment in Tohlung Dechen District. At present, 360 high-efficiency solar greenhouses have been built, with an annual output of more than 3.6 million kg of green vegetables, an annual output value of more than 18 million yuan (about 2.61 million U.S. dollars), and an annual profit of more than 5 million yuan (about 725,037 U.S. dollars), which has lifted the people out of poverty. Combining with the actual situation of the park, farmers set up the professional vegetable planting cooperatives which promote the economic development of Yamda Town and its surrounding areas. The party branch of the park leads farmers to purchase, sell and plant agricultural materials in a unified way. So far, the unified planting standard, technology, training services, brands and sales methods have been formed.
