Nov.13,2018-- Singles Day was begun by Chinese college students in the 1990s as a version of Valentine's Day for young people without romantic partners. The timing was based on the date Nov. 11, or "11.11", but nowadays, this day has become the biggest online shopping holiday of the year in China.

As the development of technology, the "e-commerce" and "online shopping”are not a new word in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region today. For local urban residents, convenient online shopping mode on e-commerce platform has stimulated their purchasing desire, and more and more people has chosen online shopping. Once the payment is made, people can get their parcels on the doorsteps. Recently, according to the statistics of Jingdong Mall, this year, Tibetan people like to snap up men's wear, mobile phone, snack food, underwear, etc.

As some people are located in a remote area, it is inconvenient to get parcels on time. As a result, express companies have to send parcels many times, which increases the cost of manpower and transportation. In view of this situation, some express companies have built somedelivery points (express supermarkets) to raise working efficiency of working staff and promote the online consumption of remote villages.

Yamda Village of Doilungdeqen District, Lhasa City, established the first express supermarket to meet the needs of villagers. The express supermarket was formally put into operation in January this year, and it cooperated with some express companies such as ZTO Express, TTK Express, Best Express, etc.

Villagers are also selling local special products including Tibetan incenses and Tibetan eggs through e-commerce. The related person of express supermarket said, "From its establishment to now, express supermarket has been known by villagers gradually. Both the amount of pick-up and delivery is increasing.”[Zhi Xinghua, He Huizhong]
