Temporary trains to be added from Lhasa to Xining

April 13, 2018 -- Since the initiative of “winter tours in Tibet”, a large number of visitors choose to travel to Tibet. Some 6,231 passenger trips have been operated by Lhasa Railway Station every day. The average daily number of passengers arriving at the station reached 7,560. Since the beginning of March this year, the station has transported 180,659 passengers, a year-on-year increase of 11. 6 percent.

During April 11 and May 3, train tickets from Lhasa to Chengdu, Chongqing and Guangzhou will be short of supply. It is also the same to tickets to Tibet. If you plan to travel to Tibet during the International Labor Day holiday, you need to reserve tickets earlier. In order to reduce pressure on transportation, Lhasa Railway Station will add temporary trains according to the actual demands in peak tourist season.

From Feb 1 to April 30, with the initiative of “winter tours in Tibet”, all A-class tourist attractions open to visitors for free. Besides, great discounts on hotels and flights are available to people visiting Tibet during that time. Therefore, even in off-peak season, Tibet has witnessed an increasing number of tourists this year. For meeting tourists’ demands, Y977/8, Z6811/2, Z6811 and Z6811/2 trains will be added between Xining, Northwest China's Qinghai Province, and Lhasa. On April 7, 10, 13, 16, 19 ,22, 25 and 28, Y977 train from Xining to Lhasa will be put into operation. On April 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27 and 20, Y978 train from Lhasa to Xining will be put into use.
