Mar. 22, 2018 -- Tibet's annual grain output has remained at over one million tons for three years in a row, thereinto, highland barely output has seen over 700,000 tons for three consecutive years. Last year, 1.03 million tons of grain were produced in China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

According to the regional agriculture and animal husbandry department, in 2017, about six billion yuan of investment was used in agricultural and pastoral industries.Tibet achieved a highland barely output of 795,000 tons.

"The promotion of rural revitalization strategy and modern agriculture faces some challenges in Tibet due to lack of arable land. At the beginning of 2018, we will accelerate the construction of grain functional areas,” said Du Jie, director of the regional agriculture and animal husbandry department.

In 2018, Tibet will focus on the reform of agricultural and pastoral areas, promoting the high-quality development of agriculture and animal husbandry. This year's grain output is expected to remain at over one million tons, of which more than 805,000 tons are highland barely.
