Jan. 12, 2018 -- According to the Health and Family Planning Commission of TAR, more than 1300 patients in Tibet with hydatidosis received free surgical operation in 2017. All of the screening and treatment expenses were paid by finance, which effectively reduced illness-related poverty.
Sangmo from Bachen County,Nagqu Prefecture, was diagnosed with hydatid disease during the screening. She was sent to the Second People's Hospital of TAR immediately. The surgery lasted more than 9 hours and went well. Under good recovery, Sangmo said that, “The surgery and the treatment are free. I spend no money on that. There is nothing to worry about.”
Jiang Zonghua, director of general surgery department of the Second People's Hospital of TAR, introduced that, 150 surgical beds specially for hydatid disease patients had been offered with a plan of about 1600 surgeries this year. People in Tibet once diagnosed with hydatid disease can go to superior hospital to fill out the approval form. With the form, they can receive free surgery and treatment at designated hospital.
To improve the standard and quality of the treatment and surgery on hydatid disease in Tibet, a series of training courses were held for local doctors by experts from the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University and Affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University.
