|Jan. 8, 2018 -- In the first 11 months of 2017,the total import and export value of Tibet's foreign trade reached 5.503 billion yuan, a year on year increase of 15.8%, according to the Lhasa Customs. The import value was 2.818 billion yuan, increasing 48.1%, while the export value was 2.685 billion yuan, decreasing 5.9%. The trade deficit was 133 million yuan. Import goods were mainly airplanes and medicine. Export goods were dominated by traditional labor-intensive products.
General trade is Tibet's main trade pattern. In the first 11 months of 2017, the import and export value of Tibet's general trade was 3.351 billion yuan, increasing 79.3% and accounting for 60.9% of the total foreign trade value. The import and export value of small-scale border trade was 2.086 billion yuan, decreasing 24.2%. The import and export value of borderers' trade was 35 million yuan, decreasing 59.9%.
Nepal is Tibet's largest trading partner, but the proportion is declined significantly. France and Belgium are Tibet's second and third largest trading partners.
